Idaho has moved to a Two-Year Cycle for reviewing school improvement plans. Per
NCLB, schools and districts in year 1 improvement status and beyond are required
to submit a two-year school improvement plan. Thus,
the only schools/districts that will be
required to submit a school improvement plan for 2009 - 2010 are those that:
Are new to school improvement (just entered
into Year 1 Improvement Status based on Spring 09 ISAT results);
Were marked Needs
Revision during the 08-09 improvement plan review process; or
Are in Year 1 Improvement
Status and Beyond that did NOT submit for the 08-09 Review.
As soon as AYP results from the Spring 09
ISAT are finalized by the Idaho State Board of Education, a list of those
required to submit will be posted.
School improvement plans are to be written based on existing funds available to
the school/district, and provide clear direction as to how the school/district
will address the areas that AYP was not met.

WISE Tool (Ways to Improve
School Effectiveness)
Over the next few years Idaho is shifting to
a new School Improvement planning system, called the WISE Tool. Districts
will continue to use the Idaho State Department of Education CIP (Continuous
Improvement Planning) Tool to submit their Consolidated Plan for Title I
funding. However, schools and districts will be shifting to use the WISE
Tool to write and submit their School Improvement Plans.
Additional information on the WISE Tool can
be found in the WISE Tool section of this website, and technical assistance will
be provided statewide this fall. In order to accommodate this sift and
allow for maximum time to write and plan in the WISE Tool, the School
Improvement Plan submission date for the 2009-2010 school year is being moved to
April 1, 2009. Prior to this submission for state review, School
Improvement Plans and must be reviewed by the LEA.
