Scott Willison, Ph.D. is currently an Associate Professor of education at Boise State University. In addition to directing the Center for Multicultural and Educational Opportunities Scott teaches TE662: Curriculum; TE 611 School Culture and the Problems of Change; and TE 201: Philosophy of Education. Prior to his current role, he worked for five years as a high school administrator in Hamden, CT. While at Hamden Scott directed the development of two alternative school programs, one of which was a collaborative alternative school that served students from three districts. Scott was also a faculty member at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, CT where he worked closely with the area’s schools and directed a program that provided minority paraprofessionals the opportunity to become certified teachers. Scott’s teaching experience includes work in Navajo reservation schools in New Mexico and an alternative residential school in Joliet, IL. with at-risk youth.
Scott received his doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana University in 1989. While at IU, Scott coordinated a program that provided pre-service teachers student teaching and internship opportunities in Navajo, Hopi and Apache communities/schools. Scott has published and presented on topics related to multicultural education and innovative teaching strategies. His current academic interests are expanded to include his role of regional coordinator for 16 Idaho sites that are participating in a school reform initiative. Scott also serves as a board of director for ANSER, Boise's first public charter school.
Scott, along with his wife and three children live in Boise, Idaho. Together they enjoy exploring the state, camping, fly-fishing and skiing.
