The Center for School Improvement & Policy Studies is pleased to announce an eight-day field study to Belize June 20 – 28, 2015. This field study will focus on contemporary issues of education in Belize and the way that specific schools work with their communities. Participants in this field study will be actively involved in forming new relationships with schools – meeting teachers, principals, students and community educators. School philosophies, curriculum, and teaching experiences will all be the subjects of inquiry. Opportunities to volunteer at schools, working together with teachers and students, will also be available.
During this field study, participants will visit two schools in San Ignacio and the Ocean Academy in Caye Caulker to participate in service learning and professional development. Participants will also visit Caracol, the Belize Zoo, sail around Caye Caulker, and participate in a jungle zipline tour. Participants will have the option to observe manatees and feed sharks at Shark Ray Alley while sailing and snorkeling in Caye Caulker.
