Teaching American History

As Idaho undergoes a comprehensive reform of its education system, the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs, the Center, and the National Association of Scholars join together in an effort to arm teachers with the background knowledge of the events and people that shaped American history and to provide a framework for the conversion of this content knowledge into quality lessons in American history.

The goals of this project are achieved through a combination of summer institutes and school year seminars taught by nationally recognized scholars and building-level learning teams. The first project
, which was funded from 2003 to 2007, was available to teachers in the Nampa, Vallivue, and Caldwell School Districts. The second project, funded in 2004 and runs through 2008, is available to the Minidoka, Murtaugh, Cassia, Filer, Hagerman, Jerome, and Middleton School Districts. The third project, funded in 2007 and runs through 2010, is available to the Boise School District.
