As Idaho underwent a comprehensive reform of its education system, the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs, the Center for School Improvement and Policy Study, and the National Association of Scholars joined together in an effort to arm teachers with the background knowledge of the events and people that shaped American history, and to provide a framework for the conversion of this content knowledge into quality lessons in American history.
The goals of this project were achieved through a combination of summer institutes and school year seminars taught by nationally recognized scholars and building-level learning teams. The first project, which was funded from 2003 to 2007, was available to teachers in the Nampa, Vallivue, and Caldwell School Districts. The second project, funded from 2004 through 2008, was available to the Minidoka, Murtaugh, Cassia, Filer, Hagerman, Jerome, and Middleton School Districts. The third project was funded from 2007 to 2011, and was available to the Boise School District.
